The ChurchBooks3 data set
ChurchBooks3 is designed to be a stand-alone program. This means the program is normally loaded onto one computer and your data file sits outside your ChurchBooks3 program on your local computer. That having been said, there are many other options. Please be aware that the methods listed below because of the prioritized nature of the program can only be deployed with the assistance of our tech support staff. Any attempt to move or alter any part of the ChurchBooks3 program will surely produce an error not supported by our team, except for the single-user files
Single User File Swap
If the program is used by a single user, you can swap out your data file from one computer to the next. For instance, you can load the program on both your church computer and your home computer, this allows you to update ether computer by simply swapping out the data using a USB or Cloud drive. The key to this method is not to over-write previous updates, this is why we call it "single-user file swap". We do not recommend or support the outcome of this method for the reason stated above but do acknowledge many of our customers do use this method with success if updates are managed, tracked and archived properly. This method is used only with the standalone version of the ChurchBooks3 program and is free with your paid subscription. It is the best way to backup or update a second computer. ChurchBooks3 should be loaded on both computers and a simple Copy & Paste command is used to update each computer
Remote In Alternative
Alternatively, if your remote or church computer is in a safe location or you have a need to share tasks with another user, you could remote into the main computer using third-party software like TeamViewer.
(LAN) or Local Area Network Setup
If you like the idea of having multiple users and you have multiple computers on the same local network, you can share your data file between computers within your local network. With some limited technical assistance from our technical support team, you can place your data file in a common folder on the network. We can assist you with this type of setup.
